About HOPE
Hope Integrative Psychiatry was founded in 2010 by Dr. Omid Naim in order to find a more natural, self-reliant and complete way of helping people recover from mental illness.
In this model pain, sadness, anxiety, and distress are our bodies’ way of telling us what we need, where we are living out of balance with our innate nature, our personal story of disconnect from our authentic selves, and our need for belonging and purpose with our community and environment.
Why We Need The Hope Model?
Mental health disabilities have increased by more than 550% in the last 70 years despite an unprecedented rise in psychoactive medicine use.
Whether it is a preoccupation with failed parenting or unsupported theories of chemical imbalances, what has developed is a denial of the broader environmental and social forces that have changed the landscape of how we live and experience the world.
Modern psychiatry focuses on a disease model that says your genes or your childhood are your fate. In reality, science shows that the problem is not in you, it is the way we are living, and we can recover completely under the right conditions.
We believe in empowering each individual on their path of healing and complete mental health recovery.
Our founding mission is to offer a more complete way of helping people recover from mental illness. Historically most people were known to recover completely from depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions that are too often now accepted as chronic conditions that require lifelong medication. Combining insights from the emerging neurosciences and evolutionary psychology with the growing awareness of trauma, grief and moral injury that underlie most chronic illnesses, the Hope Ecological Model was created to focus on uncovering the root cause of your symptoms and believing in your ability to heal and recover completely.
